Is a Rock Happier Than I Am?
A rock is a vibrational form.
Its frequency changes slowly—over centuries, even millennia.
And because its vibration moves, the rock has Life.
But the rock has no Mind.
No Heart.
No Samskara.
No Karma.
It has no thoughts.
No stories.
No resistance.
It does not worry.
It is not jealous.
It does not ache with longing or react to insult.
But it also does not feel joy.
It does not experience love.
It holds no memory of sunlight or sorrow or connection.
The rock simply exists.
It is present—fully and always.
But it is not aware of its presence.
Does the Rock Have Consciousness?
Consciousness requires awareness—
Some relationship to Reality.
To self.
To other.
The rock has none of that.
It has Life, because it vibrates.
But it does not have Consciousness, because it does not perceive.
It is not at peace.
It is not in conflict.
It simply is.
Peace Without Awareness
Peace without awareness is not Consciousness.
Stillness without perception is not bliss.
Silence without reaction is not enlightenment.
The rock may not suffer.
But it also cannot awaken.
So the question isn’t:
“Is a rock happier than I am?”
Perhaps the deeper question is:
“Can I be present—fully aware—without resistance?”
If so, I may find something the rock cannot.
Not just stillness.
But Peace—with awareness.
And perhaps… something even deeper.
